A local man serving in the United States Armed Forces is a member of the Presidential Honor Guard, and is serving as a member of the Honor Guard as late President Jimmy Carter lies in state in Washington, DC.
Kolton Kidd is the son of Jason and Amber Kidd and is a Dieterich High School graduate. Kolton is the grandson of Kenny and Karen Bushur of rural Montrose and Jeff and Kathy Kidd of Ramsey.
Kenny Bushur said when Kolton completed his basic training in the US Army, he was one of three from his class chosen for the Honor Guard.
President Carter's funeral is scheduled for Thursday in Washington, with burial in his hometown of Plains, Georgia on Thursday evening.
