No. 8 seed Dieterich gained early control en route to a 45-15 first-round win over No. 9 seed South Central on Monday.
The Movin’ Maroons led 17-1 through 8 minutes before winning the second quarter 9-6 to build a 26-7 halftime lead.
Anna Shadle took advantage of 8 of 10 shooting at the free-throw line to lead Dieterich with 12 points. Gracie Britton added 10 points and Jennifer Robards finished with 8 markers after draining a pair of 3-pointers.
Sydnee Garrett led the Lady Cougars with six points.
Dieterich advanced to play No. 1 seed Altamont (18-4) in a quarterfinal game at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Beecher City High School. South Central plays No. 2 seed North Clay/Clay City, which was upset in the quarterfinals by No. 7 seed Brownstown/St. Elmo 50-49 Monday, in a consolation first-round game at 7 p.m,. Wednesday.
